BRAZIL
Amazonian Spirituality and Cosmology

The Yawanawá is an indigenous nation from Brazil who cultivate and serve Uni / Ayahuasca. They reside in the Amazon rainforest with the Masses, Katakana, Poyanawa, Huni Kuin, and Shipibo peoples, to name a few. Yawanawá refers to "the people of the wild boar" , specifically the white-lipped peccary, which symbolically represents their people, as they are always together in a group, like a sounder of boars. While Yawanawá territory includes nearly half a million acres of the Amazonian rainforest, most of the population (roughly 1,000 people) live in 9 tribal villages situated along the Gregório River, in the state of Acre Brazil. The Yawanawá continue to work tirelessly to further a model of sustainability that allows them to protect their ancestral territories, strengthen their cultural and spiritual identity, and engage with the outside world on their own terms.

Rachael and I had the distinct honor to sit with the Chief and his family at Aldeia Akasha in March, and we were blown away by the transformational experience and the intentionality put into it, particularly in terms of reciprocity.  While this immersive retreat is hosted by Aldeia Akasha, we whole heartedly endorse it, will be in attendance, and will provide additional support as needed.  We are excited to share this opportunity with our communities and take you to this stunning country to interact with an ancient and sacred culture and plant medicine.

Our Guide

Isku Kua Yawanawá is chief of the Nova Esperança village, a community of 300 Yawanawá.  He is an indigenous leader with a mission to preserve the culture and traditions of his people, and protect the Amazon. He Is also a talented musician and has modified many of the traditional songs to include guitar. Isku’s knowledge of his culture gets deeper every day as a result of his commitment to the studies and his conduct of the Uní ceremony impresses even Yawanawá elders. He and his family will guide us in ceremony.

The Hosts

I, Claudia Nanino, am a master breathwork facilitator, crystal curator, and an explorer of non-ordinary states of consciousness.  I've led thousands of breathwork journeys and have been deeply focused on healing my heart, and am eager to share the wisdom and practices that have infinitely changed and healed me, supporting my evolution.

I'm thrilled to be partnering with my colleague and spiritual sister Rachael Popky.  Rachael is an advanced certified coach specializing in Sacred Empowerment, she is a trained bridge keeper and energy healer. She is a global travel ambassador hosting groups for sacred travel to Hawaii, Egypt, and Brazil.

Uni - Nixi Pae - Ayahuasca

"An ancient medicine used by many indigenous peoples of South America to connect with the spiritual world through
visions, intuitions and expansion of consciousness. Ayahuasca is becoming more popular as its healing properties are being endorsed by science, especially as a remedy for cases of depression and anxiety, but also as a tool for self-improvement. Recent studies are showing that its amazing properties actually allow for the reconstitution of neurons.
For a safe and valuable experience, it is imperative that it is done under the guidance and orientation of qualified and well trained medicine men / women with all the proper protocols.
Uni Retreats program at Aldeia Akasha is legal and in accordance with Brazilian legislation, as Ayahuasca has been legalized in the country for decades.
Our partner psychologists have extensive clinical background, but also a profound understanding of the indigenous cosmovision and spirituality which allows for a qualified assistance before, during, and after our retreats."
